Nabyl’s Weekly Digital Age Insights – Episode 12

By April 8, 2019 Insight

During some downtime at Industry 4.0: The Future of Humanity in the Smart Machine Age event in Los Angeles last week, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Rokk3r Fuel ExO GP Salim Ismail, and I discussed artificial intelligence (AI) and the impact of technology on humanity. In Episode 12, I’m continuing the theme of our conversation by sharing 3 interesting AI stories.

1. The Fascinating Ways PepsiCo Uses Artificial Intelligence And Machine Learning To Deliver Success

Big brands are increasingly using exponential technologies in key business areas. Gartner estimates that AI will contribute close to $4 Trillion in business value by 2022. And, in a recent survey of over 1000 US business execs already exploring AI, 20% noted their organizations plan to implement AI enterprise-wide this year. We will begin to see more and more of our favorite brands implementing AI in both foundational and innovative ways.

2.This free AI reads X-rays as well as doctors

Having a platform that can diagnose 14 diseases with 80% accuracy from a chest x-ray, doesn’t mean cardiologists are going anywhere, anytime soon. More importantly, it signals increased collaborations between AI-driven technologies and the health industry. From AI’s use in medical imaging to its involvement in healthcare communication and precise medical dosages, the breadth of application is staggering. Accenture has noted that key clinical health AI applications can create a potential of $150 Billion in annual savings for the US healthcare economy in half a decade.

3. Machine learning is making pesto even more delicious

It’s difficult at times to fathom the reach of AI into every corner of our lives. But the more we can understand the potential of its use up and down the value chain across every industry, the more we may be able to recognize change, opportunity and risk. From creating new flavor profiles and predicting upcoming food trends, to optimizing farm-to-table opportunities and mapping the microbiome. We are barely at the beginning of the appetizer course when it comes to AI’s impact on food and it’s related industries.
